![]() I also usually do my water calculations with Brunwater. ![]() Acid additions could use a bit of refinement on Brewfather. I do like Brewfathers water profile better. I like the strike water temp adjusments, which Brewfather does do, but didnt work for me straight out of the gate. It seems pretty good, but there were a few differences that made miss Beersmith a bit. Ive imported a few recipes and compared them. I've also seen and heard all the praise about Brewfather, so when it was 50% off during BF, I bought a year of Premium. I bought the 3.0 update and have been relatively happy with it. Brewing calculators are a useful tool, but always view them as one tool in your arsenal rather than as a seer. None of the calculators can predict mash efficiency, so you will need to use your own calculations or experience for that, and as far as estimate final gravity, it's a theoretical estimate while the actual result is highly dependent on real world conditions. I always double check my water/mash/wort volumes and strike temps by hand. I like the idea of "owning" my software with data on my own storage so that I'm not beholden to continuing aīut if you like cloud-based, subscription software, then Brewers Friend is really great, and I've never heard anything but gushing praise for Brewfather.ĭo you have any recommendations or warnings?ĭon't trust software implicitly. ![]() I briefly used Brewers Friend, which I liked, and then paid for a license for Beersmith2.īeersmith2 has a brutal UI but it's powerful and data-reliable. I switched to Beersmith2 after I screwed something up and lost my entire brew history in open source Brew Target. I'll make sure to check out both!įor people arriving from Google: These are the options mentioned: Seems like the overall favorites are Brewfather (for UI, cloud features) and Beersmith for advanced uses. My question to you, what kind of software do you use to ease your brewing? Do you have any recommendations or warnings? So, now I'm wondering about pouring some time and money into finding some software to help me going forward. Sharing and iterating on recipes is hard (though there is this weird allure to having a "secret" book of beer recipes in my bookshelf). I've been brewing for a few years, but I never got to a place where I used anything other than pen and paper and a few online calculators to design and store recipes, measurements and create shopping lists.
